Empowering Tax Professionals with Real-World Knowledge
Practical Professional Development for Experienced Tax Preparers
You already prepare taxes. Now let’s strengthen how you work. The Tax Professional’s Edge is designed for experienced preparers who want to sharpen their judgment, improve their documentation, and approach each return with greater care and confidence. We take a closer look at the decisions behind the numbers—from asking better intake questions to recognizing missing information and knowing when a situation requires additional research.
Through self-guided lessons, interactive workbooks, and practical scenarios, you will examine common preparation errors, strengthen your due diligence practices, and develop a more consistent return review process. We also address the business side of preparation: communicating clearly with clients, setting professional boundaries, explaining your services, and organizing your workflow so you can provide thoughtful service throughout the season.
Work through the lessons at your own pace within the course schedule, reflect on how they apply to your practice, and bring your questions to the live Q&A after the self-guided portion ends. Led by Audrey the Tax Lady, this course is about taking what you already know and putting stronger habits behind it. My goal is to help you become more intentional about your work, more thorough in your process, and better prepared for the situations that software alone cannot answer.

Build Your Foundation. Practice With Purpose. Prepare With Confidence.
You need more than software to become a confident tax preparer—you need to understand the return. 1040 Foundations & Practice is a beginner-to-intermediate course designed for new preparers and those who want to strengthen their understanding of individual tax preparation. We connect the information clients provide to the decisions you make, helping you understand both what belongs on the return and why.
Through practical lessons, interactive workbook activities, and practice scenarios, we cover client intake, filing status, dependents, income, deductions, credits, Schedule C fundamentals, and due diligence. You will practice asking follow-up questions, identifying missing documents, and recognizing situations that require additional research or guidance. The goal is to develop sound preparation habits instead of relying on software to make every decision for you.
We also focus on the responsibilities that come with serving clients: protecting sensitive information, documenting your work, communicating clearly, and reviewing a return before presenting it for client approval. Practice activities give you room to work through questions, learn from mistakes, and connect individual tax concepts to a complete return.
Led by Audrey the Tax Lady, this course offers a practical starting point for building your skills and developing a more consistent preparation process. Whether you are entering the profession or filling gaps in your existing knowledge, my goal is to help you approach your work with greater understanding, care, and confidence.
